Welcome to Repair Therapy

Rachelle Abbott, LMFT

I’m glad you came! I’m Rachelle, a licensed clinical social worker in Nevada. I have always enjoyed working with people. Volunteering in the community, at school, and at church were an important part of my growth and development as a youth growing into young adulthood. I also loved learning, so after high school graduation, I left my small rural Nevada town to attend University of Nevada Las Vegas. I received my bachelor’s degree in secondary education, and my professional journey began as a teacher in the Clark County School District. I found growth and satisfaction in teaching and inspiring youth.

Over time, my focus shifted. While I am still passionate about the importance of education, I feel drawn to providing support and resources to individuals and their families. I have had my share of bumps, bruises, and unexpected life turns, and I want to help others through difficult experiences. I returned to UNLV and completed a master’s degree in social work. During that time, I gained practical experience at Red Rock Psychological Health working with individuals who are survivors of sexual abuse and perpetrators of sexual abuse. During my clinical internship, I worked at All About You Counseling, providing evidence-based mental health services for individuals, couples, and families. Now, in private practice, I use my knowledge and experience to help strengthen individuals and families.

I believe that the fit between therapist and client is essential to positive treatment outcomes. Therapy is more than a specific treatment modality or technique. A therapeutic relationship is built on mutual respect, trust, and connection. The unique needs of the client, their values, and their goals drive the therapeutic process. Like Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending with gold, I will be with you in your journey to find healing and build resilience.

My proudest life achievements are being a wife, a mother, and a friend! I want to help others accomplish the goals most important to them.

My Approach

I offer a client-centered approach while integrating evidence-based methods. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their challenges and gain insight. We work together to find healing and to implement tools that support lasting change.

I welcome the opportunity to incorporate faith and religious principles into therapy for those who find comfort and guidance in their beliefs. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues/couples and families, chronic pain/illness, grief/loss, faith challenges, and life transitions.

Evidenced-based methods that I use

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Kintsugi Pottery

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is considered the gold standard of therapy. CBT helps people by identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns, emotional responses, and behaviors. It’s an evidence-based approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions. CBT is widely used for anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), low self-esteem, chronic pain, substance abuse, and many other mental health concerns. Its structured, goal-oriented nature makes it effective for short-term and long-term therapy.

Here’s how it works:

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Kintsugi Pottery

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on psychological flexibility. ACT has two major goals. First it helps people accept unwanted experiences which are outside of their personal control. It helps people by encouraging them to accept their thoughts and emotions rather than trying to change or suppress them. Additionally, It allows individuals to adapt their thoughts and behaviors to align with their values and goals. The aim of ACT is not to eliminate negative feelings, but to build psychological flexibility. This allows individuals to live a meaningful life despite challenges.

Here’s how it works:

Internal Family Systems (IFS)/ Parts and Memory

Kintsugi Pottery

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful therapeutic approach known for its ability to help individuals heal from anxiety and panic, depression, PTSD, complex grief, compulsive behaviors, unexplained physical symptoms, childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, and disordered eating. It builds greater self-awareness and self-acceptance. You decide when your healing feels complete. You don’t have to heal/unburden all parts to feel better. Even unburdening one part will bring relief and a sense of well-being. Over time some clients will begin to work with parts on their own without the help of a therapist. Parts and Memory work is under the umbrella of IFS Therapy.

Here’s how it works:

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)

Kintsugi Pottery

EFT is an approach that helps individuals, couples, and families improve their relationships by understanding and managing emotions. It emphasizes the role of emotions in shaping relationships. Attachment theory is utilized to focus on creating secure bonds and fostering healthy emotional expression. EFT is broken into three main stages with additional steps at each stage.

Here’s how it works:

Gottman Method

Kintsugi Pottery

This method is used in couples therapy. It focuses on building trust, developing better communication, and enhancing intimacy. The Gottman Method is used for a variety of relationship challenges, including conflict related to sex and intimacy, parenting and family dynamics, and communication challenges. Through the Gottman method, we work together to identify and address patterns of negative communication and behaviors contributing to challenges in the relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do You Accept Insurance?

Yes! Currently, I am accepting Cigna and Aetna insurance plans.

How can therapy help me?

There is value in talking to someone who does not know you or have a connection to your “real” life. In therapy, you can explore difficult parts of your life without worrying about saying it right or feeling pressure to do what they want. You will have access to a professional who uses research-based strategies to help you examine your life and work on whatever it is that brings you to therapy.

Where are you located?

I am located in Henderson at 1489 W. Warm Springs Rd., Suite 110 Henderson, NV 89014. The office complex is located on the south side of W. Warm Springs Rd. between Stephanie and Arroyo Grande.

Why did you choose the name Repair Therapy?

I'm glad you asked! I built my therapy practice on the belief that nothing is permanently broken—everything can be repaired. My Christian belief in Jesus Christ as our Savior teaches that He can heal everything. I combined this belief with my love for Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the cracks with precious metal. It is a symbol of beauty in imperfection and building resilience. Repaired pottery celebrates the object's unique history instead of attempting to hide the break. Each of us also walk our own life journey including our own bumps, bruises, and breaks. I want to help others find beauty and healing in the broken pieces of their life. I combine evidence-based therapeutic models with an individuals’ faith and religious beliefs to help individuals, marriages, and couples heal.

What is your fee?

If you do not have insurance that I can accept, my private pay rate is $150 for a 50-minute individual session and $200 for a couples session. I can provide you with a super bill that you can submit to your insurance if you wish to do that. If none of these options work, I am willing to assist you by referring you to someone who accepts your insurance or has a private pay rate that works for you.
